Be reasonable: Cm appeal to Canssea

Mokokchung, June 24 (DIPR): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has appealed to Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) to be reasonable in their demand for implementation of 6th ROP, stating that the state government does not have resources to fulfill their demand.

Addressing the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board meeting at Town Hall today, the 24th June, 2010, Neiphiu Rio made it clear that government is making all efforts to implement the 6th ROP at the earliest but he appealed to the CANSSEA to understand the financial difficulties that the State Government is experiencing and be reasonable to their demand.

Rio said State Government is currently spending 61 percent of the total revenue of the State on salary alone, which, he said, is abnormally high. He said that if debt servicing and other expenditures are included the expenditure (non-plan) touches 64 percent. Chief Minister informed the members of the DPDB and representatives of tribal hohos who also attended the meeting that the centre has directed the State Government to restrict expenditure on salary to 35 percent, which is not possible. Considering the situation Chief Minister strongly urged the Association to be more reasonable to their demand. He also disclosed that delay in finalization of annual Plan outlay for the state for the year 2010-11 is due to delay in finding a way for implementation of 6th ROP for state government employees.
