Khensa, August 2 (MExN): Tsüngremmung Festival, a pre-harvest festival of the Ao Naga was celebrated in Khensa village under Mokokchung district on August 2.
This festival marks the end of the farming season and the beginning of the harvest, and is a time for thanksgiving, communal bonding, and divine reverence, a DIPR report stated.
Speaking as the special guest, Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen thanked the Khensa Students’ Union (KSU) for their effort in organising the programme with much grandeur. He acknowledged that Khensa being the “most literate village under 28 Koridang Constituency” should be the torchbearer to lead the people of the constituency in all spheres.
Earlier, Imchen said he was convinced that the Ao tribe is one of God’s chosen tribes among the Nagas. “Apart from many things, God has given the opportunity to the Ao tribe to be His followers,” he said.
Adding that celebrating the festivals, every tribe gets the opportunity to preserve its culture in one way or the other, Imchen also reminded the community that one should neither forget nor ignore the tenet of the religion and should live a life as God wishes one to live.
