Kiphire | January 8 : The 15th session of the Longmatra Area Students’ Union (LASU) under the theme ‘Make it happen’ has commenced today at Tsongphong village with C. Kipili Sangtam MLA & Chairman NSMDC as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Kipili advised the gathering to uphold unity for progress and development and also cautioned to be vigil from outside influence to break the bond of unity.
Advising the student community Kipili encouraged them to be a role model so that the tag of backwardness in eradicated and “to achieve this you should be diligent and upright.” He also added that knowing the brand of alcohol and indulging into alcoholism will not solve the problem rather it invites more trouble and therefore, advised the student community to abstain from this. Kipili also said that “time is everything; punctuality is the need of an hour and added try to get good books and befriend them if you want to be successful in life.” Sharing his observation Kipili said that Nagas should live rich inside and poor outside because “Nagas as a whole look rich from outside but are poor inside which is not appropriate.” Disclosing the principal he maintains, Kipli reminded that ‘Service to man is service to God’ and asked the gathering to uphold Christian principal to forgive and forget so that truth prevail in every area of one’s life.
The chief guest also appreciated the contractors for timely completion of approach road and also the Longmatra villagers for providing land for cutting the approach road to Tsongphong.
Exhorting the student community R. Joshua, Ex Chairman, KTC stated that ‘LASU may not give you anything but you are the asset of LASU’ and asked the student community to give their best in career.
The session also witness launching of ‘Tsomukuen Memorial award of Academic Excellence’ where the maiden award which carries a cash and certificate sponsored by Tsomukuen family was given away to Tethsomong Joshua Sangtam who was the highest mark scorer in HSLC amongst LASU.
Earlier, the chief guest also inaugurated the newly constructed approach road to Tongphong village. He was accompanied by host of officers and public leaders.
