Beekeepers’ meeting cum FLC held at Chozuba Town

Phek, January 23 (MExN): Chakhesang Women Welfare Society, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Nagaland Bee-keeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), and Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB) Chozuba Branch co-organized Bee-Keepers’ meeting cum Financial Literacy Camp at Sekrezu Block, Chozuba Town in Phek district on January 21. It was managed and supported by NABARD under FIF.  

The resource persons Rajen Baruah, Assistant General Manager, Regional Office, NABARD, Dimapur, Imsunaro, District Development Manager, NABARD, Phek, Khuvoyi Vese, Team Leader, NBHM emphasized on the importance of collectivization of farmers as producers’ organization so that the group can become a means to overcome marketing constraints faced by individual small farmers.  

Limathung, Assistant Branch Manager, NSCB Chozuba elucidated on the different banking services available for small farmers to help advance their economy and also encouraged farmers to utilize the banking services they are entitled to by way of opening bank account, developing saving habits, depositing and withdrawal.  

In total, 52 farmers from across 13 villages, namely Chozubasa, Dzulhami, Khusomi, Khutsami, Phuhgi, Ruzazho, Runguzu Nagwu, Runguzu Nasa, Suthozu Nagwu, Suthozu Nasa, Thuvopisu, Thurutsuswu, and Yoruba attended the programme.  

The Chakhesang Women Welfare Society is implementing different sustainable livelihood promotion projects reaching out to over 4000 farmers and women in the district.
