DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today said its Kilo (Home) authorities led by Gen (Rtd) VS Atem, Emissary to the Collective leaders and Kilo Kilonser A Puni along with other kilonsers AP Shimrah, Q Tuccu and Tongmeth Wangnao have left for Amsterdam to attend talks with the Government of India which are to take place soon.
“The talks are expected to focus upon substantive issues that would be crucial for the future of the Nagas as well as our relationship with the Indian state,” the organization’s Kilonser for Information and Publicity, Major (Retd) Johnny Dilbung, said in a release. The result of the talks will depend upon the measure of respect for each other that exists and the extent of determination of amicably resolving the protracted Indo-Naga issue, he said.
Asserting that the peoples’ will and rights will always remain supreme and undefeatable, Johnny said, “At the present juncture, the Nagas should be well aware and prepared of our situation and judiciously confront (mentally and physically) any eventuality and boldly extend our responsible roles and duties as honest Naga citizens.” He indicated that if the talks are to fail, “it should be due to them and not the Nagas that failed.”
The Kilonser further said India should also avoid dishonest policies and respectably undertake the right step for ending the long drawn Indo-Naga problem.
Saying that the recent mass rally at Senapati drew a humongous crowd, Johnny said, “It is the fervent appeal of the GPRN to all the Nagas for their continuous moral support and ceaseless prayers for all the Naga leaders as well as the Indian representatives so that an amicable and respectable solution could be found conscientiously.”
