Finalists of the 1st Medziphema Inter Ward Tourney which concluded on December 18.
MEDZIHPEMA, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): Beilieze Ward-2 emerged as the champion of the 1st Inter Ward Football League Tournament held at Local ground Medziphema.
Playing against Loliba ward 8, Beilieze Ward-2 outplayed their opponent and lifted the trophy. The final score was 2-0 in favour of Beilieze.
Earlier in the day, Kitoho S Rotokha, General Secretary JDU Nagaland graced the finals as the Guest of Honor. In his exhortation, he asked each player to first ask oneself ones worth and get serious about their goal, be it sport or any other profession. While lamenting the lack of proper sporting infrastructure in the state, he acknowledged the immense talent that sprouts out despite all these setbacks. One example being the very stadium which was constructed 20+ years back.
He encouraged the sports persons not to be disheartened as ‘we are second to none’ and to take advantage of Khelo India.Hhe referred to Medziphema as a mini Nagaland and asked everyone to come out of the tribalism mindset and work together for the prosperity of the state. He added that it is every individual’s duty to do their best and strive towards a better tomorrow.
