Beisumpuikam declared as containment area

Peren, July 6 (MExN): The Sub Divisional Officer (C) of Ahthibung, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi has declared the entire village of Beisumpuikam and its premises as containment area following the detection of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Beisumpuikam Community Quarantine Centre.


The order issued on July 5 stated that all movements in and out of the demarcated perimeter/boundary of the quarantine centre will hence be strictly prohibited except for medical/emergency services. Social distancing, personal hygiene and other protocols/regulations as stipulated in the SOP issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare are to be strictly adhered by all concerned, it said.


Further, the SDO (C) directed the Medical Department to initiate immediate contact tracing as per the protocol and conduct retesting of the inmates if found necessary. 


According to a member of the Beisumpuikam Village Council, precautionary steps are being taken and "things are under control."


There are 37 returnees at the Beisumpuikam Community Quarantine Centre at present, excluding the 3 persons who tested positive for COVID-19. 


The first batch of returnees had completed their quarantine period but after the detection of the cases, they have also been retained in the QC, he informed. 15 persons were in the first batch, according to the village council member.
