DIMAPUR, MARCH 16 (MExN): A felicitation programme in honour of N Benjongliba Aier, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture was organized by the Department of Agriculture in the Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture on March 13.
A welcome was accorded to the Parliamentary Secretary by the officers and staff of the Department who was accompanied by AS Bhatia (IAS), APC & Commissioner Secretary for Agriculture and Benjamin Newmai, Secretary for Agriculture.
In his welcome address EH Lotha, Director of Agriculture stated that the department is privileged to have such a leader with an agricultural background coupled with vast experiences to lead the department. He further explained the departments’ vision, mission, and goal and assured to extend his full co-operation and support.
The Secretary for Agriculture extended his warmest welcome to the Parliamentary Secretary and also highlighted on the departmental issues requiring immediate attention.
Addl. Director for Agriculture I Panger spoke on the aspect of organizational set up and the ongoing major schemes.
Benjongliba in his maiden speech expressed his happiness to be in the midst of the Agriculture department. He stressed on the objective of the government which was to “attain self sufficiency and food security by 2025” but mentioned that it can be achieved even in the next five years with co operation, co ordination and sincerity.
The APC & Commissioner Secretary in his remark requested for prioritization of human resource development and stated grievances such as promotion and stagnation. He called for the convergence of Agri & its allied departments in the implementation of the CSS schemes for the benefit of the farmers. This was stated in a press note by the Directorate of agriculture.
