Benreului youth showcasing traditional attires at 51st Langsimngyi Festival in Kohima on October 31.
Kohima, October 31 (MExN): The Benreului Nkwa Kohima today celebrated its 51st Langsimngyi Festival at Duolhou Garden, Kohima.
Visa Meru, an elder member of the Benreu community shared a brief history of the first Lamsimngyi celebrated in Kohima 1974. He encouraged the gathering to continue the tradition of fostering unity and also bonding together by coming together to celebrate this festival as envisioned by the pioneers.
He reminded the younger generation that festivals not only unite the community but is an occasion to showcase and understand the rich cultural heritage and tradition.
Awards and presentations were given to five HSLC & HSSLC meritorious students for the year 2023-2024. The festival also featured traditional games, cultural dances and Langsimngyi feast.
