Best performing villages under Kohima and Tseminyu district recognized under SSG 2023

Kohima, September 15 (MExN): A programme to recognize the best performing villages under Kohima and Tseminyu districts for Swachh Survekshan Grameen(SSG) 2023, on the basis of scores attained during the annual village level self assessment and peer verification was held on September 14.

The Executive Engineers, PHED, Rural Division and PHED, Urban Division Kohima, Er Subongyanger and Er Neilhoukholie Chielie gave away certificates of recognition to the best performers under Kohima District namely Khonoma, Kohima village, Tuophema, Viswema and Zhadima. Under Tseminyu district, Zisunyu, Zumpha(CRBC), Sewanu, Tesophenyu New, Nsunyu and Chunlika village have been recognized for their outstanding work  under SBM (G).

Er Subongyanger while encouraging the WATSAN committee also stated that by 2024 all the villages will be declared as ODF plus Model villages. He also urged the villagers to cooperate with the department and undertake activities, to achieve the target.

Sharing a brief note on SSG 2023 District Coordinator, PHED, Kohima Division, Ashale Seb stated that SSG 2023 was geared towards garnering wide participation at Gram Panchayat(GP), district and state level, which will create enthusiasm towards SBM(G)Phase II and ODF Plus initiatives.

She said that building on the success of the earlier efforts, it is proposed to significantly intensify the SSG efforts, and make it much more participative and competitive in design. She added that the continued participation of the GPs throughout the year in the SBM (G) ODF Plus programme to work on ODF Plus initiatives and bring steady improvements in their performance against key ODF Plus indicators is the main objective of 2023.

The programme was chaired by WASH Consultant, PHED Rural Division, Virhelie Kruneilie. All performing VCC and WATSAN were present along with PHE officials and staff. WATSAN Chairman, Kohima Village, Ruokuovituo Kire and WATSAN Chairman, Chunlikha, Zunenlo Thong also shared their success storiesof their achievement.
