Beti Bachao Beti Padhao orientation prog at Bhandari held

Wokha, November 17 (MExN): Orientation and sensitization programme of Block Task Force, Bhandari, on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,’ was held at the Additional Deputy Commissioner's conference hall, Bhandari, on November 15.

Chairing the programme, EAC Bhandari Head Quarter, Sulanthung Khenjung made an opening remark that the main objective of the slogan ‘Save a girl Child, Educate a girl Child’ is to treat and support the girl child in all aspects of life to help her progress and attain her potential on equal footing with the rest.  

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari, Tiameren Chang, in his exhortation stated that, in today's time though a girl child is free of discrimination and is valued equally in our society in many ways, there are still some areas where people need to spread awareness to help bring in change and give the girl child a more safe, secure and progressive life. Educating the girl child will help to protect her and enable her to make decisions for herself and be a contributor to the wellbeing of the family, society and the nation, he also observed.  

Dr. Chonbenthung Ezung, MO Incharge, Bhandari, who also spoke during the programme stated that eradication of female foeticide through sex selective abortion, declining child sex ratio, teenage or under age pregnancy are all a matter of concern which involves the girl child, and the society should not chose to remain blind eyed.  

Chenirao Humtsoe, SDEO, Bhandari, in his speech called upon the leaders and parents to send their children to study at the government Schools where free and compulsory education up to 8thstandard is given and he also said that government schools have highly qualified teachers.  

Those who spoke also included the President EloeHoho, Bhandari, Thungsali Odyuo. President Students Union, Bhandari, Longtsubemo Kikon and Senior Supervisor from CDPO Office, Bhandari. Special song was presented by the Anganwadi workers, CDPO Office, Bhandari.  

Earlier in the programme, invocation prayer was pronounced by youth Evangelist, Bhandari Town Baptist Church, Pithungo Humtsoe.
