
East Police Station returns 110 recovered mobile phones to owners
DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN):East Police Station (EPS) under the Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur on Saturday handed over 110 recovered mobile phones to its rightful owners. The phones were recovered by the police after they were reported lost or stolen.
A handing over function was held at Commissioner of Police conference hall with CP, Kevithuto Sophie in attendance, a press release issued by Dy Commissioner of Police & PRO informed.
In a short address, the CP remarked that mobiles phones have nowadays become indispensable but it becomes risky when it falls in the wrong hand because someone may gain access to one’s personal information and sensitive data stored on the device. He said this can potentially lead to frauds, identity theft and other cyber crimes.
While reminding all mobile phone uses to ensure security to their devices so that it is not misused by anyone, the CP also highlighted the various cyber crimes prevalent on mobile phones and urged all to take preventive measures so that they do not become victim of cyber crimes.
He also requested the public to share information to police on crimes happening in their localities so that crimes can be tackled more effectively. The CP, meanwhile, lauded the efforts of the officers and men of the EPS for retrieving the lost and stolen mobile phones in a professional manner.
He also informed that citizens can report any kind of lost and stolen mobile phones at CEIR portal under the Department of Telecommunication to trace and also block the lost mobile devices.
