Bhanu Jayanti celebrated in Dimapur

Governor Acharya exhorts people from remote areas not to feel inferior to others

The 202nd Bhanu Jayanti was celebrated on Monday with Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya as the chief guest at Town Hall, Dimapur.  

The programme was organized by Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur and Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur.  

Speaking at the programme, Acharya called upon the people from remote areas not to feel inferior to others as they were second to none. He referred to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s statement that India cannot progress as long as the North East lacked in terms of development along with the rest of the country.  

He said India was a secular country with rich diversity having respect for all religion, community, caste or colour. The Governor also reiterated his statement that the practice of Yoga was a preventive and curative activity.  

Others who spoke during the programme included the guest of honour, Bishnu Bhattarcharjee, Vice President North East Bengali Samaj, Chairman Gorkha Union Dimapur, Kumar Subba and President Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur, Shiva Kumar BK.  

Eminent social workers from the Gorkha community and toppers of HSLC and HSSLC exams were felicitated during the programme.
