BHSS’ Annual Sports Week concludes

DIMAPUR, MARCH 18 (MExN): The 20th Annual Sports Week of Bethesda Higher Secondary School, Walford, held at the new school complex concluded on March 18, with Nungshila Sohe, District Education Officer (DEO), Dimapur, as the chief guest.  The event saw March Past from senior students and NCC cadets, peace contingents from little children and drill display from students of different houses, besides sport events. Freestyle dance and colourful choreography added attraction to the function.

The chief guest in her speech appreciated the school management’s efforts to organise physical activities like games and sports. Saying that games and sports help to keep one healthy and fit, the DEO upheld that the most important objective of sports is achieving a common goal with team spirit and cooperativeness. Also mentioning about values like leadership, goodwill, competitiveness, friendship, character building etc. which are developed during physical activities like sports and games, the DEO brought to attention the lofty aims of education, i.e., all round development of the personality, and hence the importance of including such physical activities in the school. She further added that only a sound body can have a sound mind.

Earlier, Lalita Roy, Headmistress, chaired the program. Rev Moses Murry, Chairman, Bethesda Ministries, invoked God’s blessings. Principal, M K Money, delivered the welcome address, and, Esther Murry, Administrator, delivered the vote of thanks and also pronounced the closing prayer.
