Kohima, October 3 (MExN): Wild Life Week was observed in Chiephobozou with the theme ‘Big cats-Predators under threat’ under the aegis of Kohima Forest Division on October 1.
Rongsenlemla Imchen, IFS, DFO Kohima in her address highlighted the importance of the role of students with regard to wild life conservation and encouraged the students to engage in responsible activities to become emissaries of change.
Pezaneinuo, Ranger conducted a white board interactive presentation with the students regarding ecosystem and the dynamics within the ecological pyramids with regard to big cats. She also sensitized the students regarding the habits and behavior of important wild animals found in Nagaland.
A quiz competition was conducted for the students on the same topic. A poster painting competition on the theme ‘Big cats-Predators under threat’ was also conducted for the participating schools.
Sanchu, Ranger spoke about the importance of protecting wild animals and the relationship of each animal in the ecosystem.
Dominique from Earth Friendly Generation (NGO) interacted with the students regarding wild life protection and conservation.
The Wild Life Week programme module was designed in a way to create an interactive atmosphere between the student and the resource persons diverting from the more conventional formal setting of the program, a release stated.
DFO also reminded that Wild Life Week programme will be conducted in the remaining ranges during the next few days till it culminates on October 8.
The participants of the programme were school students from DBS and GHS Chiephobozou.
