‘Bijli Mahotsav’ in all 16 districts of Nagaland

Chümoukedima, July 25 (MExN): As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 'Bijli Mahotsav' was held on at Sovima Village Council Hall, Chümoukedima on July 25.

The Mahotsav is being celebrated from July 25 to 30 across 670 districts in all the states of India including 16 districts of Nagaland, stated an update from the State PIB.

The Ministry of Power, New, and Renewable Energy is organizing events to celebrate the collaboration between the State and Central Governments and highlighting the key achievements of the power sector in all the districts for a week-long celebration from July 25 to 30.

A DIPR report stated that MLA, Azheto Zhimomi highlighted the benefits of electricity, the challenges faced during electrification in remote areas, and how the quality of life improved with access to power. He mentioned that Chümoukedima being recognized as a new district should take the opportunity of the benefits of the scheme and try to make it one of the best districts by uniting and thriving together.

Zhimomi said Power is one of the most important departments and urged the officers to be honest and sincere in their work and requested them to focus not only in urban areas but also in rural areas and help the underprivileged. He apprised the consumers to co-operate with the Power Department and pay their dues on time and use the power judiciously. He further stated that the village council is like a government agent, so he urged the VCs to be active, informed, and conscientious. 

ADC Chümoukedima, Kuzo urged the beneficiaries to consciously be informed of the government programmes and use them wisely and judiciously.

He mentioned that Sovima Village has been viewed as a potential village for all round development and urged them to set an example.

As part of the event, various activities were conducted-the people were apprised of the various government schemes such as Saubhagya, Ujjala, smart metering, and also the Rights of the consumers. 

Beneficiary testimony was given by Thepfukeduo Kuotsu and Lhouvi Punyu. Film was screened on capacity Addition (NPTC); One Nation One Grid (PGCIL) and on Renewable Energy (PFC). Nukkad Natak was performed by Ethnic Performing Arts. Cultural performance by Sovima Village Cultural troupe. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Chairman Village Council, Sebastian Zumvu. District Nodal Officer, Manager (Civil) NEEPCO Ltd, Er Zachama Ovung also spoke on the occasion.
