Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Institute of Health, Environment & Social Welfare (NIHESW), Kohima is organizing its annual state level bird photography competition for the school and college students of Nagaland. The competition will involve: Photo of any wild bird in their locality; Identification (local, common and scientific name); A short essay about the bird; and Name of the place where the bird photograph was taken.
Winners will be awarded citation and cash prizes as: School Level: 1st Position- Rs. 3000; 2nd Position- Rs. 2000; and 3rd Position-Rs. 1000. College Level: 1st Position- Rs. 5000; 2nd Position- Rs. 3000; and 3rd Position-Rs. 2000. The photograph of the bird along with the write up can be mailed to nihesw@yahoo.com before November 30. Contestants are also requested to send their e-mail ID and mobile numbers. The names of the winners will be published in the local newspapers.
It is felt that this competition will enable children to know more about the wildlife around them and instill in their minds a love and care for nature. Also, armed with a camera they can explore and enjoy the wonders of nature.
“This is an extension activity of the ENVIS Centre, Nagaland under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and hosted by NIHESW, Kohima,” informed a press release issued by NIHESW Honorary Director, Dr. Vizovol Mekro.
