The 14th Bishu Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival of the Dimasa Kachari tribe kicked off here at GHS Dhansiripar playground on January 25.


The inaugural ceremony of the three-day festival organised by Dimasa Public Organization Nagaland (DPON) under the aegis of Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN) was graced by Tourist officer, Ruvise Poji as special invitee.


Cultural troupes from Chakhesang tribe and Dimasa Kachari villages including Bamumpukhuri, Disagaphu, Manglumukh, Doyapur and Amaluma, presented traditional dances and songs.


The opening ceremony also witnessed display of Dimasa traditional games and sports. Various stalls showcasing and displaying Dimasa cultural items and indigenous food items were also set up.


Earlier, president, DPON, K Naben, delivered welcome address; president, Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland, Ramesh Hasnu, conveyed Bishu greetings and president, Dimasa GB Union, Jiten Nunisa, offered traditional Bishu prayer.
