BJMM meet focuses on installing BJP govt

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): Nagaland State Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha (BJMM), the women’s wing of the State BJP, held its 5th State Executive Meeting on June 3 in Dimapur.  

State BJMM President Sanuo Ngullie in her presidential speech asserted the BJP government is pro-poor and understands that poverty in the country is mainly due to corruption. “Therefore, all out efforts had been put to lift the poorest of the poor by rooting out corruption by different measures...”  

Maintaining that women have equal responsibility in the society, she stated with Naga society being faced with acute problems of corruption, poverty, unemployment, anti-social activities etc. the women of Nagaland cannot continue to remain silent. “Women should work hand in hand with the men folk to empower and better the welfare of women and children and thus the society at large,” she added, according to a press release from General Secretary (Media), BJP Nagaland. “The BJMM workers therefore have a responsibility to play a positive role to fight against social injustices and eradicate social problems.” The BJMM, Sanuo said, should also work hard towards transforming Nagaland by installing BJP government in the State.  

Yogita Singh, National BJMM Secretary and In-charge for Nagaland BJMM, highlighted the welfare schemes for women and children being implemented by Narendra Modi’s government and encouraged the BJMM workers to help the women of the State avail them. She further asked the BJMM workers to work hard on the party’s Mass Contact programme. The organizational structure of BJMM has to be strengthened till the booth level, she asserted. She assured that when BJP forms government in the State, no woman or daughter will have to worry. “They don’t have to travel to Delhi or outside the state for employment, medical treatment, education and other modern amenities and services as all these would be made available in the state itself.” In the evening, Yogita Singh held meeting with the Dimapur –I Mandal BJMM in Dimapur.  

Speaking at the Nagaland BJMM meeting, State BJP President Visasolie Lhoungu said Prime Minister Modi is very concerned for the Nagas. However, he lamented, the Nagas are too disunited to avail the goodwill and benefits of the BJP government. He said the party workers should work towards bringing understanding among them. Further, he asserted BJP is a secular party striving for an equitable society. He also said it is a shame that as a Christian majority state, Nagaland is the most corrupt and therefore the most under developed. “The BJP workers have a responsibility to rectify the situation and for which the party workers should volunteer to work hard.”  

The President also declared BJP is coming to power in the State in 2018 election. Therefore, he urged the BJMM workers to work hard to realize that goal to check corruption and bring about all round development in the state. He also advised party workers to take criticism positively.  

Ananta Mishra, Organising Secretary of BJP Nagaland highlighted the organizational programmes and schedules of the party. From June 6 to 25, BJMM workers are to engage in the Great Membership drive by enlisting women memberships by dialing 18002661001 from the applicant’s phone. He emphasized on the Mass Contact Programme from July 5 to 31 in every district, mandal and booth, where the BJMM workers should visit every home and educate the women about the government’s schemes particularly those pertaining to women, youths and children.  

Mishra further encouraged the BJMM workers to work hard to ensure the victory of atleast 4 to 5 women MLAs in the State’s 2018 election. He assured that based on their performance, atleast two BJMM workers would be given the opportunity to be MLAs. “The party is set to form its own state government and as the party progresses by leaps and bounds, there is sure to be problems from critics. However, being party members of the world’s biggest political party of 13 crores, there is no reason to be worried,” he added.  

Asangla Ao, General Secretary State BJMM, presented the BJMM activities report for the period ending May 2017 followed by the reports from all the BJMM District Mahila Presidents.  

Vikheli Sema, State Executive Member, encouraged the BJMM to continue to work hard focusing on the goal of bringing BJP government in the state for all round development. She urged BJMM workers not to be deterred or give undue attention to criticisms, rumours, problem creators, detractors etc, but work boldly along with the State President and National leaders.
