BJP govt brazen disregard for religious sentiments a routine affair, says NPCC

Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee today accused the BJP led Government at the centre for brazenly disregarding the sentiments of religious minorities.

The brazen disregard for the sentiments of other religious minorities, particularly Christians, has become “a routine affair,” NPCC alleged in a press statement issued by its Media Cell.

“In the midst of all these sacrilege” the Naga People’s Front led government in the state and BJP-RSS “continues to be inseparable partners,” it said.

When the Centre announced the observance of December 25 as Good Governance Day in 2014, the NPF took two good years to wake up from “self induced slumber and put up a semblance of their existence only in 2016 against making Christmas day irrelevant,” NPCC further maintained.

Further accusing the NPF of inaction, the NPCC claimed that only after Meghalaya took the lead in protesting against observance of Digital India Day on April 14, which is the Good Friday, Nagaland joined.

“Only after, the NPF government has also belatedly come up with their feeble statement,” it said.

The NPCC further reiterated it allegation that the only “notable achievement of the NPF has been to facilitate the presence of BJP in Nagaland” beside 14 years of “misgovernance.”

“Supporting NPF is supporting BJP-RSS since they are two sides of the same coin,” it said adding that NPF should stop attempting to “fool the people by sailing in two boats.”

Further asserting that the BJP’s rhetoric’s about development agenda has been unmasked repeatedly, the NPCC said that time is ripe for the people of Nagaland to “rise up to the occasion" and to reject any “communal forces and their agents.”
