BJP Legislature Party seeks key appointments in ULBs

KOHIMA, JULY 7 (MExN): The BJP Legislature Party of Nagaland has hailed Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for the successful conduct of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections across Nagaland, stating that the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) has been further strengthened under his leadership following the civic polls' success.

In light of this success, the BJP Legislature Party, during its meeting on July 6 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, requested that Deputy Chairpersons for the ULBs, where both parties contested together, be appointed from the BJP. "This step will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the strength of the PDA alliance," a BJP spokesperson stated.

Additionally, the BJP has appealed for the inclusion of government nominees from their party in the respective municipal and town councils.

This should be done in consultation with members from the respective areas to prevent any misunderstandings between the alliance partners, it said.

"We firmly believe that the esteemed authority and leadership of the Chief Minister will respond positively to these requests, upholding the true spirit of the PDA alliance," stated a press release from Deputy CM Y Patton's office.
