Newmai News Network Imphal | September 15 The BJP, Manipur unit today strongly reacted to the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam’s statement that there was a ‘time bomb’ fixed elsewhere in the 'Framework Agreement' signed between New Delhi and NSCN (IM). Addressing media at the party office in Imphal, veteran politician and executive member of BJP Manipur Pradesh O Joy Singh said the Congress had given its approval to the Naga integration proposal long time back. “Gaikhangam himself appended signature to the overture to Naga integration,” Joy said while reacting to the remarks by the Deputy Chief Minister. The Manipur Deputy CM yesterday said there was a ‘time bomb’ set elsewhere in the Framework Agreement signed between the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and NSCN (IM). He made the comment while speaking during a function at the Congress Bhavan. Gaikhangam had said the Centre was still not willing to spell out the details of the 'Framework Agreement' and expressed doubts in the political agenda of the Modi government in its move to end the Naga problem. Further, Joy said, “The Framework Agreement was not a time bomb but a mechanism to detect the time bomb. The state BJP has been displaying its unwavering stance on the territorial integrity of Manipur on many occasions. “Our party’s stance on the territorial integrity is unquestionable. We also put it in the last election manifesto,” former state BJP president Thounaojam Chaoba said. He hit back at the ruling Congress saying solution to the long-drawn ILP issue should be worked out by the Okram Ibobi Singh headed Congress government. Being state subject, the state government should prepare an anti-migrant bill taking on board all stakeholders from both the hills and valley. The sole responsibility for the ILP ruckus needs to be taken by the Ibobi government, not BJP, the chairman of state BJP election management committee, said. Chaoba, a former MP, also condemned the Ibobi government for Wednesday’s incident that happened along the Imphal Airport Road where a group of pro-ILP student agitators burned the welcome gate erected there to receive BJP National President Amit Shah. Amit Shah along with Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and other party leaders were visiting the state in the hope to chart out a political strategy for the state BJP ahead of the ensuing state assembly polls due early next year.
