BJP Nagaland celebrates Murmu’s victory

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland has celebrated the victory of NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India.

In a programme held at Mhacha-ki, Kohima on Friday, BJP Nagaland State President, Temjen Imna Along described Murmu’s victory as a proud moment and victory of unity for tribal in India. “It is a red-letter day for the tribals of this nation,” he said and urged the citizens of Nagaland as predominantly tribal state, to know that, today, the most highest constitutional post of being President of India is a tribal in the form of Droupadi Murmu.

 “It is a record that, inspite of political party ideologies, we have come together as a state and voted happily towards Murmu’s victory,” Imna Along said.

He said that it is time to ponder upon the good initiatives, governance and policies of the BJP party. BJP leadership has its strong assertive towards national goals, “not leaving a last man, the last caste, the last tribe, the last community to bring into mainstream of nationalism and nation building.” 

He also welcomed everyone, who are like-minded, to join BJP in nation building. “Join us in the dreams and visions that Narendra Modi is taking us through, a united India, a united Nagas, a united people, inclusive in nation building and development,” he said.

He also maintained that BJP led NDA government has shown its inclusiveness and secular democratic values by doing the right things.

Nagaland Soil & Water Conservation and Geology and Mining Minister, V Kashiho Sangtam said, “Nagas are 100% tribal people and we should feel proud of her election as President of India,” the minister said.

Abhay Giri, BJP Organisational General Secretary in-charge of Manipur and Nagaland also spoke at the programme. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Pelenguto Peseyie, General Secretary, Kohima District BJP while welcome address was delivered by Ngampa Konyak, Nagaland state BJP spokesperson. A brief biography of Murmu was given by Tsachola Rothrong, Vice President Nagaland state Mahila Morcha while vote of thanks was proposed by Wanphong Konyak, President Nagaland state ST Morcha.
