BJP Nagaland eyes 13th NLA elections

Adopts Mission 2018 to provide a stable government to the people

Mokokchung, June 24 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today adopted a resolution to keep a Mission 2018 for the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election.  

The resolution which was one of nine adopted at its second State Executive meeting held at Cosmos Hall, Mokokchung was attended by BJP National Secretary cum Minority In-Charge & Nagaland In-charge Farooq Khan and a host of top state BJP leaders led by President Visasolie Lhoungu.  

“We resolve to work towards forming a BJP led government in the state of Nagaland for the upcoming election 2018”, stated the Nagaland BJP unit. It also resolved to strive for eradication of ‘corruption in all forms in society, make sincere effort towards having clean election to ensure that true democracy prevails’.  

Besides, Nagaland BJP also resolved to support the “Act East policy” and the infrastructure development of the NE region being given a special focus by the BJP led NDA government and also ‘the various pro-poor and innovative schemes being implemented by the BJP led government’. The party agreed to work towards proper implementation of various schemes and programmes in the state.

It also resolved to urge upon the central government for early implementation of ‘already sanctioned’ road projects in Nagaland and ensure the selection of Kohima under Smart City Project in the next phase of selection scheduled for June 30.  

Calling for a honorable and acceptable settlement to the Naga political issue, the party stated that the BJP led NDA government has taken positive steps in this regard by entering into a framework agreement with the NSCN (IM), and expressed hope ‘that a final settlement will be arrived at’.  

Connect with booth level workers: Farooq Khan

The National Secretary cum Minority In- charge & Nagaland In-charge, Farooq Khan asked the Nagaland State BJP leaders to connect with booth level workers (polling booth level workers), get the names of voters in the electoral roll, and added that the Central BJP has a strong party set-up that is always there to support the Nagaland BJP.  

He suggested organizing different events and programmes like a sports tournament, or cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Mission etc at the mandal level or district levels so as to connect with the ‘booth level’ workers. He said that the central BJP is there to extend all possible help.  

“If you take one step, Delhi will be taking four steps. But the first step should come from you (Nagaland BJP),” said the BJP national secretary.  

Khan further stated that the days of buying or selling of votes is over, and said the 2018 elections would be of a different kind.
