BJP Nagaland kicks off ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’

The BJP Nagaland launched ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ statewide on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, observed annually by party workers nationwide as ‘Seva Pakhwada’ (Service Fortnight). 

Blood donation camps were held in Dimapur, Kohima, and Mokokchung, with party workers participating in the spirit of service. The state BJP reaffirmed its commitment to ‘Seva Hi Sangathan’, dedicating the occasion to serving the people and strengthening grassroots outreach across Nagaland.

Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons and Printing & Stationery, said at a press conference at the BJP head office, Kohima that October 7, 2026, marks a momentous milestone as the PM completes 25 uninterrupted years of public service as a constitutional head.

He said the party will celebrate Modi's birthday as “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” for one month, from September 17 to October 17, 2026, with every BJP worker resolving to serve the people under the guiding mantra “Jan Seva Hi Prabhu Seva” (Service to Humanity is Service to God).

He noted that Modi's public life spans more than two decades, from Chief Minister of Gujarat (2001–2014) to Prime Minister since 2014. He attributed this to Modi’s service, good governance, and welfare of the poor, rooted in the core philosophy of his governance. In an era where merely completing a five-year term is a topic of discussion, he said, continuously receiving the public’s blessings and serving them for 25 years in a vast and diverse democracy like India is extraordinary.

Er Vitsu lauded Modi for lifting 25 crore people out of poverty, providing free rations to 80 crore extending social security to 100 crore, and administering over 200 crore Covid vaccines. He said that over 55 crore people had access to free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat, farmers benefit from the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Over 4 crore permanent houses have been given to the poor. He added that India responds strongly to terrorism, striking at its roots, and that the world now looks to India and PM Modi for leadership in global crises.

Er Vitsu stated that Modi’s leadership and achievements have been well received internationally, and his vision of Viksit Bharat - a developed India- is expressed through “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” development through the participation and progress of all.

He noted that India now has over 400 space startups, compared with just one in 2014. The modernization of railways, dedicated freight corridors, dozens of Vande Bharat trains, and the doubling of airports are testaments to a New India. Initiatives like Digital India, Gati Shakti, PLI, and Make in India have further empowered the nation.

He added that Viksit Bharat cannot be built by one leader or government alone—it requires the participation of every citizen. Saying that the idea of a developed India is not merely to celebrate its achievements but to become responsible contributors to the nation’s future, he said “Let us therefore make a personal commitment: “My country’s progress is my responsibility.”

The Kohima programme was chaired by Kohima district BJP president Khrielie Üsou and coordinated by Thomas Magh (State President, BJP ST Morcha Nagaland) and Tafi Snock (committee member, Seva Sankalp Abhiyan).

According to the BJP Media Cell, Seva-oriented programmes were held across all 14 organisational districts and 60 Mandals of the state. Senior party leaders attended, including the State President and former Ministers in Dimapur, Deputy CM Y Patton in Wokha, Minister Temjen Imna Along in Kohima, Minister Bashangmongba Chang in Tuensang, and State Vice President Zaremo Kikon in Dimapur district.
