BJP Nagaland resolves to safeguard Christian faith, secular credentials

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland has resolved to “safeguard the Christian faith” and to continue support for the secular credentials and programmes of the Party under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  

The resolution, among others, were passed during the 5th State Executive Meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland held on April 28 in Kohima, informed a press statement issued by Party Secretary (Media) & Spokesperson, Jaangsillung Gonmei.  

During the meeting, many party members while expressing concern of the extreme underdevelopment visible all over the state, also voiced out   their “shock and unhappiness that some speakers in churches and conventions had spoken about their doubt on the secular credentials of the BJP from the pulpits,” it said.  

In this regard, the BJP Nagaland appealed for “the sanctity of Churches and believers not to doubt the secular credentials nor be a part of the political propaganda, but realize the reality of acute underdevelopment facing the state and be appreciative and part of the genuine efforts of the party and government to bring development to all.”  

Towards this end, it maintained that, “The BJP being a secular political party with agenda for development of the nation with special focus on North East, the BJP Nagaland urge to continue support to the secular credentials and programmes of the BJP under Modi.  

The Party also expressed continued support to the peace process and urged the Central Government to expedite the early solution of Naga Political Issue, it said.  

It also resolved to focus and propagate the party development policies and programmes for the state especially rural areas, it added.  The party workers also unanimously resolved to achieve the party’s goal in the coming State General Election 2018.  

The statement further informed that the State President Visasolie Lhoungu also gave a detail presentation of the party activities and performance since the last Executive meeting and highlighted key areas that requires increased focus.  

He also advised the party workers to “shun critics and detractors” and work harder for the party and people’s welfare, it said.  

The newly appointed Secretary (Organisation) Ananta Narayan Mishra of State BJP also called for setting the organizational targets and the programs that shall follow soon, the statement informed adding that he is scheduled to visit every districts in the state.  

Advisor to the Government of Nagaland, Imtilemba Sangtam, also addressed the meeting and encouraged party workers to keep working hard, it said.  

The party members also observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect to Late Vinod Khanna, who passed away on April 27. He was a prominent Actor and former BJP Union Minister.  

Meanwhile, the Party further informed that the Union Minister of State (Independent) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines, Piyush Goyal is scheduled to visit Nagaland on May 1 for Party related engagements and hold meetings with Party workers.
