Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland State unit today stated it has taken serious note of the NPCC President’s statement that “Lotus (BJP) will not grow in the North East.” NPCC President, K Therie’s statement appeared on July 6 issue of this paper.
A rejoinder from M Yanghose Sangtam, Spokesperson, BJP Nagaland unit reminded the general public that in the Assam Assembly election this year, the people of the State gave a huge mandate to BJP to run a transparent and corruption free government.
“The state of Assam among the North Eastern states is the most advance and hence the right thinking people of Assam is showing the way to the other north east states by allowing the Lotus to be planted in their home soil,” it stated. “Now it is only a matter of time before the other states like Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and so on follow suit and allow the Lotus to grow and flourish in the entire North East.”
The BJP State unit further clarified on NPCC Working President, Ayang Aonok’s allegation that the NDA government allocated only 350 crores as a yearly budget for the state of Nagaland in 2003. The BJP maintained that the BJP led NDA Government under Prime Minister Vajpyee had not only waived off the state deficit of Rs. 350 crores but also allocated additional package of Rs. 1050 crores for the state of Nagaland. “This clearly proves that BJP is pro Nagaland and is concerned for the welfare and the future of Naga People,” the rejoinder added.
