BJP requests implementation of projects

Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): BJP Nagaland today requested the DAN government to ensure speedy implementation of the two road projects, the proposal for which was submitted by the party to the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in November 2015.  

A press release from BJP Nagaland General Secretary (Media), Jaangsillung Gonmei informed that BJP Nagaland had submitted an 8-point memorandum to the Union Minister of Road Transports, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari on November 3, 2015 during his visit to Nagaland. The memo included proposal for the two road projects – Trans-Eastern Highway linking the eastern districts along the international boundary with Myanmar via Mon, Longwa, Pangsha, Awangkhu, Kiphire, and second, the linking of the highway from Dimapur to Pangsha via Zunheboto with the International Trilateral Highway of 1360 Kms from Moreh (Manipur) to Mae Sot (Thailand) via Myanmarese towns and cities of Tamu, Kalewa, Mandalay, Meiktila, Payagyi, Thaton, Kawkareik, Myawaddy, Bagan. The minister, according to the release, assured and subsequently, due attention was paid to fructify the proposals.

“However, despite Nitin Gadkari’s commitment to bring about infrastructural development in the remote region, local issues have become the stumbling block to begin proper implementation of several projects including the Rs. 10,000 crores NH-29 Highways, Flyovers with 28 Kms stretch of highway 29 within Dimapur city limits to be incorporated with Urban planning,” stated the press release.  

The BJP Nagaland requested the DAN government to expedite the preparation of DPRs and ensure speedy implementation of the two projects, which, it said, will boost international traffic and economic activities and alleviate the economic conditions of particularly the people of the region bordering Myanmar.
