Newmai News Network Aizawl | November 20   Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that the BJP and RSS are trying to sabotage the Party prospect and destroy the identity, culture and traditions of the Mizos.   He arrived in Mizoram on Tuesday and addressed his first poll rallies in south Mizoram’s Champhai near the Myanmar border and Aizawl.   Addressing a public rally at 3rd Mizoram Armed Police Ground at Mualpui here, Gandhi said that "two ideologies are currently in tough battle in the country.”   "One ideology is the Congress and the other one is BJP and RSS,” he added.   He alleged that the BJP is trying to impose an ideology in the country to crush the aspirations, culture, tradition and religion of the local people.   The Congress leader then accused the BJP of attempting to destroy the Mizo people, their culture, languages, religion and all their valuable things by imposing its ideology in the state.   “No matter how far the BJP and RSS are trying to sabotage the Congress prospect, the people of Mizoram will vote the Congress to power. I am confident that the people would never allow the BJP to destroy their culture and identity,” he said.   Rahul then claimed that the Congress believed in the ideology that "every Indian citizen has the right to protect and defend their culture, languages and their history".   “We will protect your religion, culture, languages and traditions. This is your choice and we are going to protect your choice,” he said.   Gandhi also said that the BJP would be rejected by the people of the country in the 2019 Lok Shabha elections.   Accusing the BJP of destroying important institutions like RBI, CBI, ECI and Supreme Court, Gandhi said the party is trying to infiltrate their men in all important institutions to control all the machinery.   Gandhi also blamed main opposition the Mizo National Front (MNF) for allegedly opening door to the BJP.   He alleged that both the BJP and MNF are in secret pact for the upcoming polls.   “By working with the BJP, the MNF is damaging Mizoram and the Mizo people,” he alleged.   The Congress leader also promised to create 11,000 new jobs in one year, if Congress is voted to power.   He said that the Congress never made fake promises like the BJP did.   Gandhi also promised infrastructure development and racing track to promote motor sports.   He said that Mizoram would be made centre for border trade and the state will be connected with the rest of the country, if Congress comes to power after the assembly elections.   The ruling Congress and MNF have fielded 40 seats each, while the BJP has fielded 39 seats.   Gandhi, who also addressed poll rally in south Mizoram’s Champhai town, bordering Myanmar said his door is always open for the people of Mizoram.   He recollected his visit to the state with his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1987.   He said that the Congress government under the leadership of chief minister Lal Thanhawla has brought tremendous economic development and raise the income of the people as over the last 10 years the state’s per capita income has been double and today it has increased to 21 per cent against the national average.   Gandhi was accompanied by AICC general secretary in-charge of Northeast Luizinho Faleiro, Congress secretary incharge of Mizoram Bhupen Borah, chief minister Lal Thanhawla and party leaders.
