Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state president Visasolie Lhoungu today said that BJP is gradually gaining acceptance and the general understanding of the policies, vision and ideology of the party is widening throughout the state.

“It must be appreciated that people in Nagaland are now joining BJP because of the party’s good governance, anti-corruption, developmental policies and vision,” Lhoungu said in his presidential address at the Nagaland State BJP combined meeting of State Executive, State Council and all Mandal Presidents here at Indira Gandhi Stadium.

The people of Nagaland state awaits BJP to install BJP government in next election, Lhoungu said, adding in principle the people of Nagaland have realized that BJP is the best alternative to both NPF and Congress.

While informing that BJP has set up 55 mandal units and about 70 to 80% of booth level committee in the state, he encouraged the party workers and members to have political will, clean direction and strategy to strengthen and expand the organizational structure at all levels.

“Our party prospect is improving in every aspect and we must take this opportunity to garner mass support with realistic approaches,” Lhoungu said, adding that forging ties with community, building contact between people and workers is the need of the hour.

BJP legislature party leader P. Paiwang Konyak said the most important issue now is the issue of secularism and corruptions. “We as leaders must prove that we ourselves are a true Christian in faith and prove to the citizens that the leaders of the BJP are better Christians than the leaders from any other political parties and again we must not be corrupt rather we must be clean morally and spiritually,” he said.

He told the party workers that “we must be equipped to fight against the corruptions during the election in supporting the clean election as advocated by the NBCC.” BJP legislator and Minister Imtilemba Sangtam stressed on the need to strengthen BJP, stating “to win the elections, we need more people to join with us.”

Expressing optimism that BJP will come to power after 2018 state general elections, he assured that BJP will provide corruption free government in the state. He also viewed that the suspension of members should be revoked at the earliest in the larger interest of the party.

BJP legislator Dr TM Lotha termed today’s meeting as crucial to rejuvenate and reenergize the spirit of party workers as election is near. “We have to work very hard so that we get the majority in the forthcoming elections and form BJP government in Nagaland,” he asserted. Regarding enrolment of the party members, he said, the policy of BJP should be “open door policy” where all people who are willing to join the party should be welcomed.

“BJP will form the next government in the State after the 2018 State general elections and provide corruption free government while also taking the welfare schemes of the Central government to the grassroots, besides putting Nagaland in the path of development and progress,” affirmed Ajay Jamwal, BJP general secretary (organisation) in-charge of North East. He lamented that Nagaland lacks good roads and infrastructure development in all sectors, especially education, power and health care delivery systems. He therefore said that the BJP leaders and party workers in the State have to work hard not only to clean the dirt of the streets as part of Swachh Bharat but also change the mindset of the people to support BJP to form the government and bring about better development.

Announcing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched 120 peoples’ welfare schemes, Jamwal however doubted the schemes were reaching the people of the State. In this, he said, State BJP leaders and workers have to approach the district administration to check the successful implementation of the Central schemes aiming to uplift the economic and social condition of the rural poor. Jamwal also called upon them to reach to the electorates in 2159 polling booths of the 60 seats in the State with the party policies and programs and work hard to bring BJP legislators after the 2018 elections. BJP secretary (organisation) in-charge of Nagaland, Ananta Narayan Mishra said the neighbouring states of Nagaland also have BJP government and are enjoying uninterrupted development in all spheres. He further urged the party leaders to hoist the party flag in their residences to promote BJP in the State.
