Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Block-wise training on Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) was held at Chief medical officer’s conference hall, Dimapur from July 19 to 24.
A press released from the CMO office Dimapur stated that the Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) is the institutional counterpart of Health Center Management Committee (HCMC) established under National Health Mission. HCMC was envisioned as a local level institutional mechanism to enable action for improvement in the availability and quality of hospital infrastructure and services, and promote community ownership of Health & Wellness Centers (HWC). As the scope of services and responsibilities has been improved in Ayushman Bharat-PHC (AB-PHC) and Sub Center-HWC (SC-HWC) levels, the HCMC are to reconstitute their members as per the new guidelines after the training. The new members must name their committee as JAS-HCMC henceforth.
During the training, Dr Antoly Suu, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur presented an overview of JAS, its background and the need for JAS. She also presented the health, dimension and determinants of JAS. She also emphasised on the need to improve community involvement in the health sector.
Esther Thirah, DPM (NHM) also highlighted the structure and composition of JAS, functions of JAS and the roles and responsibilities of JAS members while Mhabeni Ngullie, oriented the members on management of fund utilizations.
During the training, HCMC Chairman, Secretary and one member from the Committee under each health unit attended the training.
