Blockade on new diversion of Tadubi–Shajouba-Kharasom Road

Senapati, March 10 (MExN): Construction on the new diversion of the Tadubi–Shajouba-Kharasom Road in Senapati District has seemingly hit a roadblock.   Alleging that the Order of the Manipur High Court [dated April 7, 2016 passed in WP (C) No 374 of 2008] has not been complied with wherein compensation to the affected victims has not been paid, a group of petitioners in a writ petition has warned of a blockade on the construction of the new diversion.   The writ petition was addressed to the Commissioner, Public Works Department, Government of Manipur; Chief Engineer, PWD; Deputy Commissioner, Senapati; The Executive Engineer, PWD, Senapati Division.   According to statement from the petitioners, the court had directed the payment of compensation to the petitioners within 6 months from the date of receipt of copy of the order.   The petitioners disclosed that copies of the court order were submitted through their lawyers to the concerned departments on April 18, 2016 and April 21, 2016. “In spite of receiving order copies and lawyer’s notice, still the departments are not yet considered our matter nor pay the compensation as per High Court order even after six (6) months statutory period had been lapsed,” the petitioners stated and insisted that they are compelled to issue the notice for blockade.   Government authorities are solely responsible for any unwanted happenings in the blockade area, the petitioners warned.
