Blood donation camps conducted across NE

Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): In commemoration of World Blood Donor Day, the army organised several blood donation camps across the North Eastern states.

The camps are held in Manipur, Assam, and Tripura wherein over 250 Army personnel donated blood, a report from PRO (Defence) for Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh stated.  

In Bishnupur district of Manipur, the Army collaborated with the Indian Red Cross Society, SHIJA Hospital, Imphal, and Bishnupur District Hospital, to conduct the camp at the District Hospital. The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, the Chairman of  Bishnupur branch of Indian Red Cross Society, and senior Army officers. 

At Lekhapani in Tinsukia District of Assam, the event drew participation from school students, teachers, and local youth, who were educated about the importance of regular and safe blood donations, the PRO mentioned. The camp saw in attendance 120 students, teaching staff, and 45 youths. 

In Agartala, the Army conducted the blood donation camp at Agartala Military Station. More than 100 volunteers including army personnel, defence employees, and volunteers from adjoining areas donated blood, the report said.
