Blue Revolution boost fish farmers in Dmp

Dimapur, March 30 (DIPR): Department of Fisheries, Government of Nagaland distributed floating fish feeds under Blue Revolution (Neel Kranti)to around 50 beneficiaries under Dimapur district, on March 29 at the Brooder Fish Farm.  

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome exhorted the farmers to be sincere and honest challenged them to create success stories in the fishery sector by availing the opportunities provided by the Government. Stating that government alone could not improve self sufficiency of the state he urged upon the farmers not to be individualistic but to come forward and contribute for its growth by availing the Government’s benefits judiciously.   Additional Director, Department of Fisheries, Imtitongzuk Longkumer said that floating fish seeds which cost  more than Rs. 3000 per bag of 35 kgs are distributed free of cost to small marginalised farmers under the Blue Revolution Scheme announced by the Central Government last year.

Longkumer also informed that very soon lime will also be distributed to the farmers stating that lime which contains calcium carbonate is good for formation of fish bones besides cutting down the acidity of soil and water. He also informed that under the Blue Revolution scheme construction of fishery ponds and renovation of existing fishery ponds will also be taken up after scrutinizing necessary documents and stated that Aadhar Card will be mandatory.  

CEO Fishery Department Dimapur, Dr. Vimezo Kirewho chaired the programme also advised the farmers to venture into fishery sector stating that it has ample scope and benefits for generating income.
