‘Blunders despite expert advice?’

NPP, NDPP paper war continues

Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): NPP Nagaland State on June 7 issued a counter-rejoinder to NDPP’s rejoinder to its open memorandum to the Chief Minister, stating that it proves the party’s nature of targeting “blindly without digging into the truth.”

While stating that it is natural for the NDPP to defend the ruling government since the CM belongs to their party, the NPP felt that the NDPP “have lost their people-centric goals and ethics while doing so.”

Responding to the NDPP’s rejoinder that the government is consulting experts during the pandemic, the NPP wondered how the government can commit “one blunder after another” despite having expert advice. “Are we to understand that the experts are giving erroneous advice to the government or the government is not listening and acting on the advice given by these experts,” it questioned.

It said that the failure of the state government in handling the COVID-19 pandemic is known to a majority of people both within and outside the state. It also clarified that the NPP is not interested in gaining any political mileage out of the pandemic, adding that, being a people-centric party, it is their right and duty to question the inequities of the government in matters related to the welfare of the public.

Reacting to the NDPP questioning the efficacy of heads of educational institutions becoming political leaders, the NPP said that there is no mention in either the Constitution of India or in any section of the Indian Penal Code that the head of an educational institution cannot take part in any political movement or become the leader of a political party.

It also pointed out that the NDPP questioning NPP’s and accountability does not hold any reasonable ground as its party motto ‘One Voice, One North East’ speaks volumes about their vision and credibility.

It advised to make fact checks and find out enough reasons and logic behind NPP’s ‘legitimate questions’ which the NDPP had labeled as ‘negative criticism, misinformation and personalized attacks.’

The NPP reminded that the party has given due credit to all frontline workers since the time the pandemic situation started in the state.

NPP Nagaland State does not have any personal discord or hostility against the government and is in fact “ever ready to support the government, provided the government is on the right track and if only it proves itself as a people’s government,” it stated.

It said that the party is open to any kind of discussion or consultation with the government on any matter of public importance.

It however stated that until the government acts for the general welfare of its citizens in an unbiased manner, the NPP Nagaland State “would keep on highlighting the lapses of the government to ensure that the general public is not deprived of their rights.”
