BMMU Sanis & Champang blocks conduct Financial Inclusion Mela

Wokha, February 11 (MExN): Cluster wise Financial Inclusion (FI) Mela for Sanis circle under Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Department of Rural Development, Block Sanis was conducted on February 4 at Sanis town Community Hall. 


Held under the aegis of Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), more than 350 SHG members attended the event covering a total of 13 villages which consisted of 89 Self Help Groups (SHG).


The programme was chaired by Nzamongi Mozhui and Abeni Ovung, Area Coordinators, BMMU Sanis. Echungbeni Erui, Village Facilitator (VF), Sanis Village invoked God’s blessings for the event.


During the programme, B Wakhao J Konyak, BDO cum BMM RD Sanis Block emphasized on MGNERGA and encouraged womenfolk to strive for the welfare of the community as they play a crucial role in uplifting the society in the grassroots level.


As per a press release from BMMU Sanis Block, he encouraged all the SHG members to fully utilize the various avenues provided to them. Resource person Tiken Singh, Lead Bank Officer (LBO) Wokha highlighted on social security schemes on PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY and insisted the SHG members to avail benefits provided to them which will allow them to be more secure in their health and also for securing their future.


Keynote address was delivered by Chumchithung Ngullie, BPM Sanis block and overview of Sanis Block was highlighted by Phyochamo Tsopoe, AC-FI. Bank account opening and filling up of social security scheme were done with the assistance of Orentsani Kithan, DC-FI, Wokha and Bank Sakhi Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB).

 

Changpang Block: BMMU Changpang Block, Wokha district conducted Financial Inclusion Mela in two clusters - cluster one in Changpang Block Office on February 5 for Changpang Circle and cluster two for Aitepyong Circle at Community Hall, Akuk Old on February 6.


At cluster one, Subenthung Yanthan AC FI chaired the programme while Lotseno Ngullie (Bank Sakhi) said the opening prayer. As per a press release from BMMU Changpang Block, BPM Myingthungo Ezung BMMU Changpang highlighted the overview of NSRLM under Changpang Block and encouraged the SHG members to be “more dedicated” in working together for a sustainable living.


He also requested the village stakeholders to support and encourage women in order to avail the benefits. Livelihood topic was shared by Levi Y Thungdemo Khuvung AC Livelihood. SO II RD Block Changpang spoke on MGNREGA scheme while Supervisor Social Welfare Bhandari Block, Ralithung spoke on PMMVY and other schemes available within the department.


Importance of Banking relationship, Bank Linkage and Social security Schemes was shared by Rajesh Purkayastha, Assistant Manager State Bank of India Bhandari Branch. A total number of 197 SHG members along with 8 stakeholders, 8 BMMU staff, 4 resource persons from Bank and Line Departments participated. 11 individual accounts were opened.


At cluster two, Myingthungo Ezung BMMU Changpang highlighted the overview of NSRLM under Changpang Block. Livelihood topic was shared by Apibeni Y Kikon, AC Livelihood. Exhortation was given by Village Council Chairman, Akuk Old Village where he acknwoledged the NSRLM BMMU Changpang Block Staff for bringing Banker and Line departments at their door step. Block Project Officer Social Welfare Sanis Block Zubemo Yanthan spoke on PMMVY and other schemes available within the department.


Importance of Banking relationship, Bank Linkage and Social security Schemes was shared by Masheto Nandu, Manager, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Wokha. A total of 226 SHG members along with 7 stakeholders, 8 BMMU staff, 3 resource persons from Bank and Line Departments participated. 15 individual accounts were opened at the Mela.
