Body of missing student recovered from Doyang Dam

The dead body of a 25-year old male, who was reportedly swept away at Dzüvüru River below Lower AG, Kohima on June 27, was recovered from Doyang Dam by fishermen. 

District Disaster Management Authority, DDMA Wokha, Nodal Officer,  Jonjibemo Odyuo confirmed the news and informed that the body was found at Tzuza Eryü area near Phodung Resort in Wokha. 

He said the fishermen spotted the body while they had gone fishing around 1 pm and informed authorities. Soon after which police along with SDRF team had gone to the site to confirm and complete the formalities. 

He informed that the body will be taken to Yikhum Village where the mortal remains will be handed over to family members. 

The deceased, who is a resident of Kohima, went missing from Dzüvüru River, Kohima on July 27 evening. However, authorities come to know of the incident only on June 28 evening. Rescue operations began the next day by a joint team of the police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and District Disaster Management Authority, DDMA Kohima along with volunteers and family members. 

Other districts also launched operations and an additional team from National Disaster Response Force also joined the operations. Despite efforts, no progress in the search was made. DDMA officials further informed that search operations were officially called off on July 4 despite volunteers from villages still on the search.
