Border Rest House at Aghunaqa inaugurated

Dimapur, october 1 (MExN): Jacob Zhimomi, MLA Nagaland has urged the people living in the border areas of the state to create a platform to promote cultural ties and local tourism between the neighbouring states. He was speaking at the inaugural function of Border Rest House at Aghunaqa, EAC headquarter on September 30.  

Inaugurating the rest house, Jacob said that border villages have been the low lying areas and is yet to witness the light of the day in terms of connectivity, infrastructure, medical facilities and other basic amenities entitled to them. On the need of peace in border areas, he urged the people to maintain cordial relationship and brotherhood with neighbours.  

Addressing the gathering of GBs and public leaders of Aghunaqa, Ato, Khaghaboto, Kuhuboto and Niuland areas, MLA Jacob touched upon the border issues of Assam and Nagaland and opined that the existing agreements signed between the two states should be reviewed and the same yardstick be applied on both states.  

He reminded the leaders that they with the support of the general public and churches have an immense role to play in the overall growth of their areas.  

Others who spoke on the occasion include Kitoka Chishi, EAC Aghunaqa, S. Vihuto Yeputhomi, President, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, L.K. Achumi, Advisor KAK Union and presidents of GB association of five areas.  

The inaugural function of the rest house which was organised by KAK (Kuhuboto-Aghunaqa-Khaghaboto) Union was chaired by Viheshe Chishi, vice president, KAK Union and recorded by Kawoto Aye, general secretary, KAK Union.  

Rev. Kiheto Awomi, president, AAPF said the invocation prayer, Ahoto Yeputhomi, vice president, KAK Union delivered welcome address, Shiwoto Yeputhomi, President, KAK Union proposed vote of thanks and Keyevi Katy, pastor Hukai Baptist Church pronounced the benediction.
