Border Row: NPF Mkg demands govt to take up matter

Mokokchung, July 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mokokchung Division on Wednesday said that “the Naga villagers, living in the border areas are experiencing sleepless nights due to the presence of Assam police in their lands and the youth are highly agitated.”

Drawing the attention of the Nagaland Government towards the “fragile border dispute with the neighboring State of Assam before the situation escalates beyond control,” the NPF Mokokchung Division media cell in a press release that the party “would like to know, who would be held responsible if any untoward incident should occur.” It demanded the Government of Nagaland should take up the matter at the highest level, at the earliest.

Meanwhile, stating that the Assam government, in its maiden Assembly session have discussed and decided to set up police battalion camps at strategic Assam-Nagaland boundary, the party also questioned the state government on “how the State of Nagaland is going to react to the development or would either remain a silent spectator.”
