Botsa turns EAC HQ, Chiephobozou gets Rural PS

Botsa  and Chiephobozou, both located on National Highway 61 under Kohima district, is apparently heading for better access to developmental packages and advancement with the inauguration of an administrative centre and rural police station there respectively by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio this morning. Inaugurating the EAC Headquarters at Botsa, Rio said that administration and police are the main organs of the government while other 80 departments are focusing on developmental activities in the state.

Realizing the need for having a strong government, Rio said that DAN government has been giving special attention towards strengthening of administrative centres by way of upgradation of ADCs, SDOs and EAC headquarters across the state. Maintaining that the effective functioning of administration centres lies in cooperation of public, he called upon the public to extend their unflinching support to those officers so as to enable them to perform their duties effectively and deliver the goods to the people.

He also stressed on the need to have proper planning by developing the town and create conducive atmosphere to move forward in all spheres of developmental activities.

Also inaugurating Rural Police Station at Chiephobozou at a separate function, Rio said the decision to upgrade the police outpost to that of full fledged Rural Police Station was taken last year. He called upon the public to extend their cooperation to police and administration and let the peaceful atmosphere prevail in the area. Stating that government has done a lot in the last six years, he said still many more needs to be done.

Rio also reminded the people that the government-run farms in respect of veterinary and agriculture have not been created solely for providing, milk, meat or rice to the people but to help educate the people to learn and undertake such activities on larger scales. He said the government is a facilitator and it is up to the people to gather the know-how from such farms, particularly with regard to rearing of pigs or cultivation of various crops. 

Also addressing the public at Botsa, minister for home Imkong L. Imchen declared that massive development has been witnessed during the last six years of DAN government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

He, however, said that material development was not enough for which capacity building has been felt by the government, which the government has declared 2008 as the year of capacity building. “We all need peace and security,” he said adding that the time has come to create space for peace of mind for the people to work without any hindrance. He also called upon the people to come forward and unitely fight against anti social activities in the state.

Also speaking at inaugural function of rural police station at Chiephobozou, J. Changkija, IPS, DGP Nagaland said that the need to upgrade the police outpost there was felt as it located on NH 61 linking Mokokchung, Wokha, Tseminyu and Kohima, and having wide coverage with  27 villages with 30,000 population as per 2001 census. He also felt that with the coming up of Airport at Chiethu, SDPO post will be required in this police station.  Kohima Deputy Commissioner Sachopra Vero in his welcome speech at Botsa has requested the government to post the required officer and staff to make the EAC HQs functional. He also requested the government to provide sufficient fund for construction of office and staff quarter at the newly created EAC HQs.

NLA speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie, minister for agriculture Dr. Chumben Murry, parliamentary secretaries Chotisuh Sazo, R, Khing, Pangyuh Phom, Er. Saku Aier, Y. Patton, Dr. K.C. Kanito, State Planning Board deputy chairman Neiba Kronu, Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board chairman Dr. Nicky Kire and several other government officials accompanied the Chief Minister.
