British leaders thanked for Naga issue highlight

Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) is appreciative to British parliamentarians for raising the Naga political issue.

The Naga National Council through its general secretary Vizosielhou Nagi thanked the British Parliamentarians’ Committee for Self-Determination for speaking out and raising the Naga political problem “for the first time after sixty long years of silence.” The matter is of significance, the NNC implied, as the British Government is the “first and the main betrayal of the Nagas during their rule in India.”

“But today, the politicians are raising the political problem of the Nagas officially as they fully know the political history of the Nagas as a people and nation. The NNC fully welcome the stand and step taken by the British Parliamentarians’ Committee for Self-Determination for the Nagas” the council stated.

The NNC also asserted that it being the parent body of the Nagas,  stands to support the step taken by the British parliamentarians, in support of the Nagas outside the Constitution of India. “This is the right political stand taken by them. And they are the right people and nation to speak out the truth for the Nagas as because they are responsible for the fate of the Nagas’ suffering for the last sixty years of struggle for freedom” the council asserted.

The council, while extending gratitude to the British parliamentarians, appealed to deliver justice “fully” to the Nagas as they (British Government) “left behind the political issue of the Nagas for the past sixty years.” “The NNC will be looking forward to see the political justice done to the Naga people fully by the concerned Government” it added.
