WOKHA, JUNE 23 (MExN): The Bible Society of India Wokha Branch conducted a seminar on June 22 at Tenyimia Church Wokha Town. Keshwega Seb, President moderated the session; Dr Keduoneizo Metha, Treasurer welcomed participants and Ahoshe Yeptho, Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
Myingthungo Ezung Chairman, Wokha Town Pastors’ Fellowship pronounced invocation and Rev N hubha, Pastor, Nepali Baptist Church pronounced benediction. There are 42 Churches in and around Wokha Town. A good numbers of Pastors and leaders participated in the promotional seminar.
Rev Dr Yiepetso Wezah, Auxiliary Secretary and Marwati, Assistant Officer served as resource persons. Rev Y Wezah spoke on the role of the Bible Society in God’s mission.
He shared that the BSI was founded and owned by the Churches. It is a non-denominational and non-profitable society. It partners with the Churches in translating the Word of God into different heart languages, produces the Bible into different formats and distributes the Bibles to churches and even to non-believers.
According to United Bible Societies’ report, there are 7,396 living languages in the world. Out of which 3,666 Bible has been translated in full and part of it. In the whole world, 3,730 language groups do not have any part of the Bible, he said.
He also mentioned that the BSI Dimapur Auxiliary was inaugurated on November 6, 1985 at Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur. He challenged Lotha Christians to take the ministry of God to greater heights.
O Marwati, Assistant Officer shared the role of BSI Branch. He stated that BSI branches are to mobilize Churches and individuals by sharing the ministry of the BSI. He thanked the Churches for contributing a good amount to the ministry and urges Pastors to cooperate with the office bearers of the branch and do more to provide the Bible to people who are in need.
