Deputy CM flag off Nagaland Police outreach & civic action prog in Kohima

Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister (In-charge of Home & Border Affairs) Y Patton today flagged off Nagaland Police Outreach and Civic Action programme cum beat patrolling at PHQ Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Patton said that this Police Outreach Program as well as Civic Action Plan is aimed at building a positive police-public partnership based on mutual trust and co-operation to maintain a peaceful environment in the state.
He said that the mobile canteen contingents will also function as beat patrol parties to extend better policing to rural and otherwise less-policed areas to help instill a sense of security among people and keep a vigil on anti-social elements in the rural areas.
This will be achieved through the involvement of DEFs, NAP, and IR Battalion units of Nagaland Police, Patton said.
He informed that Nagaland Police force has come a long way since its inception, evolving into a professional and capable force committed to upholding law and order and serving the people.
The men and women of the Nagaland Police Force have been committed to maintaining law and order and pursuing justice, he said adding that “They have not only confined to performing the usual and normal duties but have also gone beyond their core duties to connect with the people and serve local communities keeping in mind that building a strong community relationships is an integral part to social harmony and national progress.”
Commissions GCMS instrument at FSL Dimapur
Later, Patton virtually commissioned Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) instrument at Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Dimapur.
He maintained that the commissioning of the GCMS instrument at FSL Dimapur will significantly bolster forensic investigation capabilities.
“This will aid the police force and the judiciary enormously in gathering irrefutable evidence, delivering justice in time and containing the drug menace,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
As Nagaland moves forward on its developmental journey, he said, there will be tests of our resilience when tensions seem to divide communities.
“However, we must uphold our shared hopes for a just, inclusive, and non-violent society,” he said.
Stating that police have a vital role as both protectors and trusted partners for all citizens, Patton said “They must act with courage, integrity and compassion.”
Citizens too must respond with wisdom, empathy and goodwill defying purveyors of hatred, Patton said.
He also congratulated the Nagaland Police for coming up with more innovative initiatives towards better policing and wishes that the police continued success in their efforts.
“Let us move ahead unitedly to build a vibrant Nagaland that is equitable, harmonious, and progressive,” he added.
Nagaland’s DGP Rupin Sharma and Vilhousie Peseyie, Joint Director, FSL Dimapur also delivered short speech.
The programme was chaired by Jasbir Singh, IGP (ABns-IR/NPTO while vote of thanks was proposed by Renchamo P Kikon, ADGP (ADM).
