Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): Can Youth conducted an ‘Experiential Awareness & Empowerment Workshop’ for Class XI and XII Humanities students of Livingstone Foundation International on Monday at the school auditorium.
The programme was organised at the invitation of the school as part of efforts to promote awareness on social issues while strengthening youth leadership and life skills among students.
According to a press release, the workshop focused on child rights, anti-bullying, mental health and wellbeing, substance abuse prevention, youth leadership, peer responsibility, and the “I CAN” Youth Ambassador Initiative.
The first session on child rights was facilitated by Loza, Program Manager – Enabling Wholistic Safety and Protection, DKA Austria, Prodigals' Home. She provided an overview of the rights of children with emphasis on the protection, dignity, care, and holistic development of vulnerable children.
She also encouraged students to “create safe environments and to speak up against abuse, discrimination, and injustice.”
The second session was facilitated by Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth, who addressed anti-bullying, mental health, and substance abuse.
Drawing from his personal experiences, Rongmei reflected on the impact of drug addiction and stressed the importance of making informed choices, seeking support, building resilience, and resisting peer pressure and negative influences.
The “I CAN” Youth Ambassador Initiative session was led by Nuye Nyekha, Program Manager, Can Youth, who encouraged students to believe in their ability to create positive change through leadership, volunteerism, and community action.
She urged students to “become ambassadors of hope and responsibility” and to recognise their potential to support one another and contribute positively to society.
The workshop witnessed participation from students and faculty members and concluded with an interactive reflection session encouraging students to believe in the power of “I CAN,” the release stated.
