KOHIMA, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Nagaland state government organized a farewell programme for the outgoing Chief Secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir on January 31 at the Secretariat roof top, Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Alemtemshi asserted that bureaucracy still holds the actual realms of power and exhorted the gathering to work with a sense of teamwork. He narrated instances where he interfaced with organizations outside Nagaland but observed that the kind of human relationship available in Nagaland could not be compared elsewhere.
Describing the emotional bonding of the Nagas as the greatest strength, Jamir felt that this aspect needs to be built up and carried forward. Opining that Nagas are living amidst much confusion, he observed that “working in two sets of identity is the biggest challenge of bureaucracy and we need to think clearly with a correct philosophy.”
Speaking on behalf of the Government, Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, Toshi Aier described the former Chief Secretary as a person with sharp mental acumen, especially in developmental activities. Toshi observed that Jamir is a man who has deep concern for his fellow Nagas and is accessible as an administrator. Highlighting the Bamboo, Honey and many other mission modes, where Jamir was instrumental, Toshi said that the only way to repay him was to carry his dream forward.
Representing the IAS Association, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner P&AR, Ponraj stated that Jamir has walked an extra mile, giving utmost priority to development. Ponraj also spoke of him as an excellent crisis manager and described Jamir as a man who decided to see tomorrow, see today and act now and coined him as the development man of Nagaland.
As a part of the NCS Association, Rovilato Mor described the former Chief Secretary as a proud son of the soil with vast experience in administration and governance. “With an all round distinguished personality, he could be considered a gem in the history of state bureaucracy,” Mor maintained. Special Secretary Home, Singsit, representing the IPS Association described Jamir as approachable, professional, and visionary, with deep rooted knowledge in varied areas.
Representatives from the Nagaland Police Association, IFS Association, NSS Association, Grade IV Association (Secretariat) and the various Directorates also spoke at the event.
