Buried corpse shifted to Naga Cemetery

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 20 (MExN): The coffin of a deceased woman which was forcibly buried inside Rangapahar Zoological Park on August 19 was exhumed and shifted Friday, August 20. The grave was dug up at around noon today in the presence of police and officials from the district administration.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Maongwati Aier had issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the family of the deceased till 9:00 am Friday to remove the grave from within the park. Failure to comply with the order on the part of the family, the district administration along with the police dug up the grave and shifted the coffin to the Naga Cemetery, where it was reburied. 

Administration officials said that the deceased was the wife of one of nineteen claimants to land inside the park. The man is said to be one Heshepu, who lives along the boundary of the park. According to the officials the claimant violated a standing order from the court of the District & Sessions Judge, Dimapur: “to maintain status quo over the suit land as of today, till further order in the interest of justice and fair play”, which was issued on February 26, 2010. Officials produced a copy of the court order. 

Meanwhile, the DC informed that prohibitory order under section 144 of the CrPC which was clamped in the area is still enforced. It will be revoked till the situation normalizes or till further order, the DC said.
