Students of a Bible college in Kohima had a narrow escape after the bus they were travelling in met with a mishap at New Wokha village on April 21. The bus was reportedly proceeding to Zunheboto when it skidded off the road and turned on its side. The accident occurred around 10:00 am.
The Wokha police said that the accident reportedly occurred as the bus was making way for an oncoming VIP vehicle. Other reports though unconfirmed said that the oncoming VIP car did not slow down to allow a safe crossing of the two vehicles on a narrow road. To avoid a collision, the driver reportedly swerved left falling on its side. Three passengers reportedly sustained minor injury.
The police said that there were 22 passengers on the bus, while adding that it did not receive report of any casualty. The police added that when it reached the site of the accident, only the bus driver and his assistant were present.
