Business bodies oppose election of DCCI Prez

DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): Various business organizations have voiced out together against the election of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on May 1, 2011 stating that the election was held without any system and transparency.  
A complain letter jointly signed by representatives of 24 different business unions and associations including Nagaland Medicine Dealers’ Association, New Market Business Owners’ Association, Dimapur Hardware Merchants’ Association and Hazi Park Welfare Committee and addressed to Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur termed the election of members of chamber of commerce as unofficial and urged the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and immediately nullify the unofficial conduct of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry election and re-electing of Kasheto Yeptho as its president.
The complain letter mentioned that the DCCI was constituted on ad-hoc basis in 2008 and was dissolved in April 2011 by the district administration. Therefore, the election of new members of DCCI require official and prior notification to all section of business and trading community through district administration.

The letter stated that till new members of DCCI are elected by the concern district authority with proper procedure involving the whole section of business community, Kasheto Yeptho has no authority to notify and conduct election. It further stated that on the contrary, Kasheto with few of his coteries proposed and seconded his name to be re-elected president and that the outrageous conduct of election by Kasheto was misrepresented and a defiance of authority and denigrating of the DCCI.
The signatories were of the view that they are not against any individual whatsoever but are totally against system of the election.
