Business community in Kohima under tremendous stress: KCCI

Kohima, October 5 (MExN):  The office of the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) today maintained that the business community in the State capital is under tremendous stress and burden due to “excessive approach for patronising many a philanthropic and charity deeds.”

While the community had always intended to offer quality products at reasonable rates against all odds, “compelled exaction upon the traders” has resulted in parting away of huge chunks of one's livelihood, KCCI maintained  in a public notice.

The trading community is fatigued from the numerous yearly collections from various elements, while other collections such as buffets, concerts, lotteries, calendars, fund raisers etc adding “salt to the wound,” it said.

“These collections have not only drained the business community economically but emotionally and psychologically as the modus operandi of coercing is adopted to fleece out the business community,” it added.

In this connection, while encouraging its members to be “magnanimous in extending one's gestures of goodwill to foster a healthy relationship with the public, the KCCI also appealed to all concerned that business sectors cannot be deemed as the “Charity Baskets where, everyone or anyone is entitled a portion of one's arduous yields.”

"Every shareholder is a member but every member is not a shareholder," it added.
