Businesses in Shillong areas permitted to resume operations

With adequate arrangements put in place to ensure that all norms of social distancing, hand hygiene and wearing of masks are being adhered to, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has lifted the order for closure of all shops and business establishments in Police Bazaar, Motphran and Laitumkhrah in Shillong.  

Nongbri said that in supersession to her order issued on August 18 and in exercise of powers under the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and amendments thereof, the order for closure of all shops and business establishments in Police Bazaar (from Khyndai Lad via Gold Cinema up to Umsohsun Road junction) and G. S. Road (from Shani Mandir to Bimola Point), in Motphran area till Bimola Point, Motphran area to Stand Jeep area and MUDA Parking Lot (Upper Level) at Garikhana and in Laitumkhrah from Police Point till Mohanson’s Dry Cleaner has been lifted with effect from August 23.

However, while resuming business, these business establishments are to ensure that all persons mandatorily wear face masks at all times, maintain social distancing, hand hygiene by using sanitizers or soap and water which these business establishments must provide to the customers. Ensuring respiratory etiquette is also mandatory. Failure to comply with any of the above conditions will entail closure of identified shops/commercial establishments, said Nongbri.
